On February 16, Javier Velasco, project manager at CTA, defended his doctoral thesis at the Vitoria School of Engineering of the University of the Basque Country. The doctoral thesis, entitled "DEVELOPMENT OF INTELLIGENT CONTROL SYSTEMS FOR AERONAUTICAL TOOLS", presents different advanced control solutions aimed at the new automated assembly processes of aeronautical structures.

Advanced or intelligent control is based on the development of control systems that automatically generate control actions, imitating human intelligence, to achieve the appropriate response from the system. From the study of art, different advanced control strategies have been developed and experimentally validated, divided into three groups: (1) micro-positioning systems, (2) systems with multiple actuators and (3) control of multiple systems.

The doctoral thesis is part of the collaborative work of CTA and the Advanced Control Group of the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU) carried out in recent years in different research projects funded by the Diputación Foral de Álava.
