AVANCES EN EL PROYECTO FLOWCAASH / PROGRESS IN THE FLOWCAASH PROJECT

CTA is working in collaboration with Lortek on Flowcaash project inside the European Commission Cleans Sky II initiative. The aim of this project, developed along 2018-2020, is the manufacturing and validation of control flow actuators made of Titanium-Aluminium alloy by Selective Laser Melting (SLM) additive manufacturing process.
The objective of this component is to increase the lift on aircrafts where new generation engines will be equipped. This new engines have the goal of reducing the emissions.
During the execution of this project different units of Steady Blowing Actuators (SBA and Pulsed Jet Actuators (PJA) will be manufactured. CTA will perform aerodynamic characterization of the components as well as Harsh Environment tests (vibration, icing, rain, sand and dusts, etc.) upon manufactured units in order to validate the manufacturing process and to check the performance of the actuators under different environmental conditions.
This will be performed in two iterations with the aim of introducing the potential improvements detected on test campaign in the redesign of the actuators.
